I wrote my comment above before reading about REM (an all time favorite - amazing they are off the grid for so many years avoiding the temptation of the reunion tour) or the Ham Fighters (is that a chicken mascot behind him?). Outstanding.
I didn’t realize they released the second season of 100’ Wave. I watched an episode bored on a long flight and was so hooked that I spent the trip excited to fly home to watch the rest. I too feel like I must ge to Portugal to see this in person.
Document is such a great album. I love the story of you pointing out the irony of "It's the End of the World..." to your camp counselor. The memory that I most associate with the song is seeing a cover band play it at The Globe Theatre in Norwalk (most likely on an evening where The Nields were playing), and a bunch of people in the crowd shouted out "Leo-nard Bern-stein!" at the appropriate moment, and Sandro said, "Wow -- everyone just knows to shout that out?"
The R.E.M. social media team posts some fun videos from time to time. It's worth following their accounts. Mike Mills is very active on Twitter. I saw Peter Buck play with the band The Minus 5 maybe five years ago. And then Mike Mills and Peter Buck play songs about baseball together in The Baseball Project. Coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse in August!
